History

1970

NorthWest Ordination Course is formed by the Anglican dioceses of Chester, Blackburn, Liverpool and Manchester but open to students from other denominations.

1980

Renamed the Northern Ordination Course with the added sponsorship of Wakefield, Bradford, Sheffield, Ripon and York dioceses of the Church of England and the Methodist Church

1984

Joined the Northern Federation for Training in Ministry with commitment to working with the Methodist, Baptist, United Reformed and Unitarian Colleges in Manchester from a base at Luther King House.

1990

Began co-operation with the University College, Chester and the University College of Ripon and York St John for course teaching and validation.

1992

The Northern Federation for Training in Ministry becomes a Local Ecumenical Project.

1996

The Northern Ordination Course begins working with the Community and College of the Resurrection, Mirfield as part of the Mirfield Centre.

1998

The Northern Federation for Training in Ministry becomes the Partnership for Theological Education, Manchester  and the Northern Ordination Course becomes a partner.

2003

The Northern Ordination Course and the College of the Resurrection form a new partnership with the University of Leeds in the BA and MA programmes in Theology and Pastoral Studies.

2007

On the establishment of the Southern North West Training Partnership NOC moves its administrative offices to rented accommodation in the Mirfield Centre and works with others to establish the Yorkshire Regional Training Partnership

2008

The Northern Ordination Course is re-launched as the Yorkshire Ministry Course, the non-residential theological training course for the county of Yorkshire, encompassing the dioceses of Sheffield, Wakefield, Bradford, Ripon & Leeds and York, working with the universities of Leeds and York St John.
